Context
Legislation in many states requires districts to inform parents about students’ assessment scores within 1–2 weeks of testing. Many districts use the mCLASS Home Connect letter (an assessment report card for parents) to meet this legislative requirement.
Problem
In the past, teachers would download, organize, and mail these letters to parents, which was a time-consuming task. Given the short timeline to communicate results, district administrators wanted a way to streamline this process.
Solution
We created a tool that allows district administrators to download all of the mCLASS Home Connect letters in their district. Administrators can download a zip file containing one PDF per school or per student, enabling them to organize and distribute the letters as they see fit.
User Flow
The district administrator lands on the Home Connect Batch Download page and selects the New Batch button.
In this example, the admin is entitled to one district. They want to download all DIBELS 8th Edition Home Connect letters in the Parkside District. They want the letters to be in English, and separated by school. It’s currently the beginning of the year, so the MOY and EOY options are disabled. The admin selects Generate to start the process.
The batch appears on the home page with an In Progress status. The Download button is deactivated until the status changes to Generated. The admin selects the Details button to view the details of this batch.
A side panel appears confirming the details of this batch. The admin will receive an email once the batch is ready to download.
